- For prescription medication, we require the original prescription and your health insurance details.
- If you are a long-term patient with us, your name and date of birth are sufficient

- Do I have to present my original prescription?
Yes, the original prescription is required for prescription medication.
- Do you offer a delivery service?
No, we do not offer a delivery service. Please feel free to contact us - we will find a solution together on how to get your medication to you.
- Can I return or exchange medication?
For legal reasons, medicines cannot be exchanged or returned, even if the packaging is unopened. Our advice will help you before you buy.
- Do medicines cost more at the 24 Stunden Apotheke Basel?
No, during regular opening hours the same prices apply as in other pharmacies. During the emergency service (from 6.30-8.00 pm, as well as on Sundays and public holidays), however, a legally regulated emergency service fee is charged.
- What is the emergency service fee?
The emergency service fee is a surcharge for pharmacy services outside regular opening hours. It is based on the tariff agreement for service-orientated remuneration (LOA). If the medication is obtained on a doctor's prescription, the health insurance company usually pays the lump sum.

- What are prescription drugs covered by insurance?
Prescription drugs covered by insurance are medications whose costs are covered by mandatory health insurance (basic coverage).
This applies if:
- the medication is listed in the Specialty List (SL)
- it has been prescribed by a doctor (for prescription medications)
- the use corresponds to the approved indications
Insured individuals generally pay only the deductible and a 10% copayment.
The following are not covered by insurance, for example:
- many over-the-counter medications
- medications not listed in the SL
- use outside the approved indications (off-label)
- What is LOA V?
This fee schedule regulates the remuneration of pharmacy services in Switzerland, specifying how health insurance companies compensate pharmacies for services such as counseling, dispensing, checks, and emergency service fee. LOA V has been in force since January 1, 2026. The emergency service fee for accidents continues to be reimbursed under LOA IV.
