Emergency service fee
An emergency service fee is only charged during the emergency service or outside the regular opening hours of pharmacies (from 6.30 – 8.00 pm, as well as on Sundays and public holidays).
For prescriptions billed through health insurance, an emergency service fee of CHF 17.30 is charged during the emergency service (in accordance with the LOA V tariff agreement). For medications covered by insurance, this fee is generally covered by basic insurance (minus the deductible and copayment).
For prescriptions billed through accident insurance, the emergency service fee is CHF 19.70 (in accordance with the LOA IV tariff agreement). This fee is covered by accident insurance.
For over-the-counter medications or those not covered by health insurance, the emergency service fee of CHF 17.30 must be paid out of pocket. A reduced fee of CHF 12.95 applies to over-the-counter medications during the following hours: Mon – Fri 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Sat 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sun 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
